Work Description
Smart Eye is looking to expand our machine learning capabilities with the addition of a Machine Learning Operations (ML Ops) Engineer to improve and extend our hybrid-cloud machine learning model development tools and infrastructure. You will work alongside Smart Eye’s computer vision and machine learning scientists based out of our Boston (US), Cairo (Egypt) and Gothenburg (Sweden) offices, as well as collaborate with peers internationally in Egypt and the United States.
Building this technology requires not only a fast and flexible development cycle, but it also needs to be extended to adhere to well established automotive development processes to ensure reliability, reproducibility and ultimately safety. To do so will require the best ML infrastructure, which you will help build.
About You
We are looking for a motivated engineer who is excited to extend and augment Smart Eye’s hybrid machine learning infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a background in DevOps with a passion for machine learning: staying on top of the latest technologies and best practices available to successful machine learning organizations.
You will implement solutions to be used by Machine Learning engineers and scientists; working closely with our Data Platform team, Continuous Integration team and Site Reliability Engineering to ensure easy to use workflows that are both scalable and cost-effective.
Reporting to: Automotive Solutions – Core Algorithms Group Manager
Location: Smart Eye AB, Headquarters (Gothenburg)
Responsibilities:
- Improve and extend Smart Eye’s machine learning (ML) automation pipeline for model training and validation.
- Evaluate and integrate 3rd party tools (both commercial and open source) for ML operations e.g., MLFlow, Kubeflow, Metaflow, Airflow, Argo, SageMaker etc.
- Extend internal machine learning tools to enable faster and more efficient training of models.
- Build tools to improve experiment scheduling and tracking using Kubernetes or similar frameworks.
- Work with Smart Eye’s Data Platform team to implement access to training and evaluation data in terms of scalability, reproducibility, and ease of use.
- Maintain a backlog of ML infrastructure bugs & improvements.
? Must-have-skills:
- 3+ years of experience working in backend software development in a machine-learning / data driven organization.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Strong skills in Python 3, including concurrent programming.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts: deep learning frameworks, model training, validation, data access patterns.
- 2 years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud compute and storage: EC2, Lamba, S3/EFS/EBS, Batch.
Good-to-have-skills:
- Experience with ML Ops tools: MLFlow, Kubeflow, Metaflow, Airflow, Argo, SageMaker, etc.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Travis, GitLab CI).
- Experience with PyTorch and Tensorflow.
