Work description

You will be part of a software team in our project or product organization. The project teams are working closely with our customers to ensure the software fulfills their needs and expectations and successfully go into serial production, whereas our product teams are responsible for algorithm development in key areas such as head- and eye-tracking, attentiveness and drowsiness, face identification and interior sensing.

We are building safety features in novel technology that will significantly improve road safety and will transform our transportation experiences. Safety features such as determining people’s seating locations in a vehicle, if they are wearing seat belts, and detection of left-behind children, as well as features that enhance comfort, wellness, and entertainment by detecting occupants’ emotions and gestures.

Development activities range from early-stage prototyping to porting and deployment to a wide set of automotive embedded platforms.

We solve these challenging problems utilizing state-of-the-art algorithms in the fields of image processing, the latest machine learning techniques / AI, mathematics and accelerated computing.

The work includes developing new features and applications, embedding and optimizing the software for specific target platforms and environments, testing and verification for specific vehicle programs as well as working with our customers to create the best possible user experience.

You will have an active impact of the processes and projects and will work in close cooperation with the other talented team members. Your contribution to how we can meet our customers needs with tomorrow's technology will be of crucial importance.

- University degree within Engineering context preferably Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar.

- 2+ years of software development experience, preferably within embedded systems.

- 1+ year of work experience in C++ and/or Python development.

- Experience in one or more fields of image processing, graphics programming, real time operating systems such as QNX, Integrity or Autosar.

You will be part of our team, improving and further developing our AIS product, taking Smart Eye's state-of-the-art algorithms for head- and eye-tracking, attentiveness and drowsiness, and applying them in a connected embedded product. About You
We are looking for a motivated engineer who is excited to extend and augment Smart Eye’s hybrid machine learning infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a background in DevOps with a passion for machine learning: staying on top of the latest technologies and best practices available to successful machine learning organizations.

You will implement solutions to be used by Machine Learning engineers and scientists; working closely with our Data Platform team, Continuous Integration team and Site Reliability Engineering to ensure easy to use workflows that are both scalable and cost-effective.

Responsibilities:

- Improve and extend Smart Eye’s machine learning (ML) automation pipeline for model training and validation.
- Evaluate and integrate 3rd party tools (both commercial and open source) for ML operations e.g., MLFlow, Kubeflow, Metaflow, Airflow, Argo, SageMaker etc.
- Extend internal machine learning tools to enable faster and more efficient training of models.
- Build tools to improve experiment scheduling and tracking using Kubernetes or similar frameworks.

About You:
You understand what it means to create a backbone for a system. Without your frameworks and APIs, core business requirements wouldn’t be met. Non-functional requirements are what you consider, and you know the questions to ask to ensure the system delivers to the appropriate capacity, securely and reliably.

These days it’s all about the movement, transformation, and presentation of data and you recognize this fact. You have at least 5-10 years’ experience developing server-less functions and micro-services which manage and process data. You have also built up significant infrastructure experience in cloud environments that efficiently move very large volumes of data, and you have written database functions and Python scripts to orchestrate and monitor those systems.

The Research Instruments Development Team is responsible for the entire software development process for the Research Instruments business area at Smart Eye.

Research Instruments has a product portfolio made up of multiple Windows-based GUI applications and services, with the head- and eye-tracking product Smart Eye Pro at its core.

Smart Eye Pro is written in C++, with an increasing number of supporting applications written in C#. Work in Smart Eye Pro is mostly focused on camera integration, algorithm development, and modifications to enable new partner integrations.

We are also responsible for maintaining our own CI/CD infrastructure. That includes full ownership of a Jenkins server, associated Windows E2E-testing machines, and visualizations tools for accuracy and performance metrics.

In addition to software development, the team takes on ownership of internally developed cameras, as well as other hardware components as they enter the aftermarket. Because of this the team gets to be involved in pre-production development stages as a stakeholder for internal system development.

Your Role

Work description

The Research Instruments Development Team is responsible for the entire software development process for the Research Instruments business area at Smart Eye.

Research Instruments has a product portfolio made up of multiple Windows-based GUI applications and services, with the head- and eye-tracking product Smart Eye Pro at its core.

Smart Eye Pro is written in C++, with an increasing number of supporting applications written in C#. Work in Smart Eye Pro is mostly focused on camera integration, algorithm development, and modifications to enable new partner integrations.

We are also responsible for maintaining our own CI/CD infrastructure. That includes full ownership of a Jenkins server, associated Windows E2E-testing machines, and visualizations tools for accuracy and performance metrics.
