What you’ll do
Your purpose as a System Designer, together with your colleagues in your agile team and the product owner, is to provide stepwise (business) value to the larger solutions/systems (via the Agile Release Train - ART).  With main focus on system design, you will make sure that our customers get the best possible system with regards to functionality and quality within the area Call Center Services. We also expect you to be on top of technology evolution and provide new ideas to continuously improve the product and our processes.

The product purpose is to enable connectivity for all cars delivered by Volvo Cars and Polestar. Your focus is on system design and making sure our customers get the best possible system with regards to functionality and quality within the connectivity area.

What you’ll do

In the Car Service Experience cluster, part of the Commercial Digital area, you will support the creation and transformation of service information. You'll be part of the journey toward building a platform where numerous products, including those owned by other teams, can easily share their data. To achieve this, we operate in a multi-functional setting with key responsibilities that include:

•    Design and implement scalable and innovative solutions by integrating various source systems and transforming data into a unified service information platform.
•    Lead troubleshooting and optimization efforts to enhance system performance and reliability, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

This role requires substantial interaction with stakeholders due to our belief in empowered teams. Understanding the problems at hand and identifying the best possible solutions is a vital part of the job. You will be expected to innovate and tackle business-critical objectives, whilst maintaining a portfolio of essential services. Collaborating with other teams is also crucial as you will propose solutions that benefit not only our team but also other product teams, and data consumers.

What you’ll bring

We believe that the ideal candidate will possess not only extensive experience with the data engineering technologies we use but also a high level of proficiency in soft skills.

Your main technical responsibilities include implementing tooling, developing data pipelines and data governance solutions. Our stack is based on Azure, ADF, Data Lake, Databricks, , No (Cosmos DB) and Azure functions. Previous experience working with those technologies will be valuable in the role.

On the soft skills side, you should be a collaborative team player who is adaptable and open to changes. A keen interest in learning and delivering is essential, along with a receptiveness to different perspectives.

The role is a full-time position based in Gothenburg. You are currently expected to work from the office an average of three days per week, but this could increase in the future as we have an office-first policy.

What you’ll do
At Volvo Cars, we have an ambitious growth plan for connected functionality and autonomous driving. We create safe products in a personal and sustainable manner with customer focus. We have set the goal to by the year 2025 have 50% of our software in-house developed. This goal emphasizes the need for a robust framework encompassing processes, methods, and tools for software product development, ensuring a consistent incorporation of built-in quality aspects throughout the development process.
We are now seeking a talented and experienced engineer to join us in the role of Software Quality Assurance (SWQA) engineer.

You will be responsible for supporting software development teams with how they develop and design the software product. Your contribution aims at making sure in-vehicle software, whether developed in-house or by any of our external suppliers, fulfills the quality criteria defined by our software development process. Those quality criteria reflect activities throughout the entire development lifecycle.
You will support the software development teams throughout the Volvo Cars Engineering division by engaging in diverse activities related to software quality, such as
•    Evaluation of external suppliers based on their development capabilities.
•    Provide training within software quality process work.
•    Software contract negotiations.
•    Software quality reviews.
•    Software work product reviews.
•    Coaching individuals in activities related to software quality assurance.
You will also
•    Develop, improve, and maintain software quality-related processes.
•    Develop, improve, and maintain software work product templates.
•    Drive a network of software quality assurance engineers.
•    Support in planning and scoping SPICE assessments and helping improve identified process gaps.

You will be a member of a software engineering team responsible for defining Volvo Cars' way of working when we develop, and quality assure software products and services in our cars. Our department delivers processes, methods, and tools within engineering disciplines like software engineering, product cyber security, and functional safety.

What you’ll bring
You possess a customer-centric approach, comprehending the needs of our external customers and anticipating future trends. Your valuable input plays a key role in shaping both short- and long-term strategies for built-in-quality software development.
By collaborating with the team's Product Owner, you actively contribute to the alignment of these strategies with the demands of internal and external customers.
You are skilled in teaching, guiding, and coaching design departments at all organizational levels on the usage of the appropriate work products, methods, and tools related to software development.
You bring with you:
•    Experience in the automotive development process.
•    Experience with and knowledge of
•    Various software development tools.
•    Software standards, e.g. ISO 12207 (Software Lifecycle processes) and Automotive SPICE, as well as ISO 26262.
•    A good understanding of various software engineering disciplines is essential. For instance, procurement/contracting of software, requirement management, software architecture design, software implementation, software integration, software testing, configuration management, software approval, as well as related software work products (e.g. specifications, design descriptions, development plans, and test reports).
•    Knowledge of Volvo Cars' specific routines of software such as procurement process, software review framework, and general software development is a merit.
As you will work across teams, a collaborative mindset is essential for this role. 
You own at least a BSc in a relevant area (mechatronics, computer science, engineering, etc.) or equivalent based on work experience.
