The Team
Our team, “Central functional safety at GTT” is in the heart of a great transformation. We work with developing and design vehicle functional safety concept, supporting all product streams across GTT to do HARA, FSC, TSC , Joint review with supplier and ensure compliancy of our development process and product to state of the arts such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 (SOTIF) and also AD standards such as UL 4600.
As Senior Functional Safety Engineer you will be part of the central functional safety competence center  and will be involved in both process and product development. This includes all levels of product development from participating in strategic planning for the group, partner/suppliers’ selection, review Functional Safety Statement of Work, initial concept design and stages of development through to production launch. It will involve interfacing with a variety of groups including electrical engineering and mechatronics engineering as well as customers and suppliers / technical partners.  
In this position you will be involve in detail of safety design, requirement review and support teams to do FSC and TSC at system, SW and HW levels which might include the refinement of safety requirements on HW and SW and ensure bidirectional traceability. 

The main responsibilities entailed in this role are:

• Active involvement in writing functional safety instruction and guidelines, providing templates.
• Provide functional safety trainings for different safety activities including impact analysis, HARA, safety analysis on SW and HW part. 
• Planning and scorekeeping of safety test activities (Safety plan) depending on the scope of each specific vehicle project 
• Drive the development of functional and technical safety concepts within the function, system, subsystem, software, and hardware 
• Lead functional safety engineering activities for product development teams and develop technical work products. 
• Co-developing Impact analysis and making recommendations for inclusion of accurate safety criteria in system design and procedures to control or eliminate hazards. 
• Develop technical work products specific for functional safety requirements, e.g. item definition, criticality analyses, other safety analyses, and test coverage analysis for safety requirements
• Support the implementation of functional and technical safety requirements in all parts of the vehicle system design 
• Support the development of verification and validation strategies within the subsystems, software, and hardware, e.g. hazard and risk assessment (HARA), FTAs, DFMEAs, functional safety concept & technical safety concept (for systems with safety goals or ASIL classified requirements) 
• Develop and integrate Functional Safety standards and industry common practices into corporate processes according to ISO 26262. 
• Ensure technical specifications and other work products are prepared, and stored correctly, and revisions are managed and released in timely manner 
• Ensure that safety plan activities meet program timing. 
• Align safety related topics with suppliers and customers. 

Who are you!

As a person, you have a broad technical know-how combined with very good people skills and a strong belief in agile methods. You have a strong ability to inspire, develop and motivate individuals and teams. 

Required qualifications:

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. within Electrical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering 
• Knowledge of functional safety activities and deliveries according to ISO 26262 
• Documented experience of working with:

1. Safety Analyses at HW and SW levels including HW/SW,
2. FMEA & FTA, Performing DFA, analysis of freedom of Interferences.
3. Specification of the hardware-software interface (HSI)
4. SW/HW Architecture
5. HW schematics, BOM list and HW Metrics (ASIL C/D)

• Functional and technical safety concept for automotive industry within domains with ASIL > B
• Fluent in English, spoken and written. (C2)
• Excellent communication skills

Background:
A minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience in electrical engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field and/or MSc or PhD
Experience with RF simulation and design tools such as CST Studio Suite, ANSYS HFSS, Keysight Genesys, or similar.
Hands-on experience with RF prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
Experience with RF programming languages such as Matlab, Python, C/C++, Labview, or similar.
Experience with PCB design for RF applications, including transmission line routing, impedance matching, and high-frequency grounding techniques.
Familiarity with RF safety guidelines and regulatory compliance standards for RF systems and devices.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to have:
Familiarity with RF system-level design and analysis, including link budget calculations and RF link analysis.

* Proven track record of successfully architecting and delivering complex embedded software projects within time and budget constraints. Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and experience with microcontrollers and automotive electronic control units (ECUs).

As a person you have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Good English in writing and speech is a skill you must have, since the work will be done in an international environment.

Competence and Skills

“Exterior front and side” is a vital part of the Volvo GTT CAB Exterior section. Based in Gothenburg, our team holds global responsibility for Volvo heavy duty trucks exterior (FH, FM and FMX). You will be part of a team encompassing a diverse range of backgrounds, from Associate engineers to Expert engineers. Additionally, our teams in Bangalore, India are deeply integrated with the Gothenburg team, forming a robust global network dedicated to the development of advanced automotive technology. Our primary focus lies in developing critical components such as the trucks' exterior parts such as the Front lid, grill, side fenders, identity panels, sun visors and much more. Our core competence is injection molded plastic parts.

What you will do
As the Engineer for the exterior, front and side, you will serve as an Engineering Task Leader (ETL). Your mission is to develop an area of the exterior.  You will lead the development process, ensuring Quality, Delivery, Cost, Features, and Sustainability (QDCFs) standards are met. Collaborating with highly skilled suppliers, that develop the components, and a supportive GTT team, your main responsibilities will include:

•    Setting requirements and evaluating supplier work.
•    Managing the project timeline, changes, and cost evolution.
•    Acting as the primary technical contact for suppliers
•    Leading the technical development and create road maps for the future.
•    Communicating progress to various internal stakeholders, including production, product design, purchasing, and feature leaders.

This role is challenging and exciting, requiring strong communication skills to effectively coordinate across different teams.

Who you are
You have a strong engineering background, likely started as a design engineer working with injection molded plastic and sheet metal design where you started to develop a broader T-shaped profile. You are able to take lead on complicated designs with multiple interfaces and stakeholders. You are confident in your knowledge, pragmatic in finding solutions, and know how to balancing various demands.
Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders is second nature to you. You can maintain focus on objectives even under pressure, and you excel at explaining recommendations clearly. As a team player, you understand the importance of a committed timeline and your role in ensuring success.

Experience we seek:
•    M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
•    At least 5 years of experience in product development within the automotive industry.
•    At least 5 years of experience in developing injection-molded plastic components.
•    Experience working in a global environment with multiple sites is preferred.
•    Very good knowledge in the development of plastic components.
•    Proficiency in communication and presentation techniques.
•    Good knowledge of CATIA V5, including surface, part, and drawing design.
•    Understanding of requirement documentation (TR writing) and legal requirements.
•    Familiarity with PDM Link, KOLA, and MS Project is preferred.
•    Proficiency in English (written and spoken), with Swedish as a plus.
•    Familiarity with Agile methodologies and global team management.

What you will do
As the Lead Engineer for the exterior, front and side, you will serve as an Engineering Task Leader (ETL). You are most likely known as subject matter expert and a natural go-to person for complex design issues. You love to coach and mentor your pears. You have led complex designs with multiple interfaces and stakeholders. You are confident in your knowledge, pragmatic in finding solutions, and skilled at balancing various demands.

What you will do
As a Senior CAD Engineer you will have the possibility to influence the future of the Exterior Front and side area. Together with your team mates you will be responsible to develop next generation truck.
You will work closely together with the lead engineers.
•    Make detail design in Catia V5 based on advanced A-surfaces from product design.
•    Set the right technical demands on the parts according to the company standard.
•    Secure progress and deliveries in different design stages within projects together with the team, on- and off-site by managing part numbers, structure, and release administration in KOLA and PDM system

Who you are
We believe you have a strong engineering background. You have probably already worked in a wide range of different complex design areas where you have used a wide range of different materials and processes. When phasing a challenge, you stay calm and finding solutions. You are a communicative person who plans, aligns, and can focus on the highest priorities. You are service-minded and result oriented, you take ideas and implement them. 
Knowing our products FH, FM and FMX is a merit.

Experience we seek:
•    B.Sc. in Mechanical engineering or similar education or equivalent experience.
•    Engineering experience of mechanical design from automotive industry, at least 5 years
•    Experience from working in a global environment with global teams
•    Experience from collaboration between engineering, geometrical architects, product design, production.  
•    Documented experience working with plastic and sheetmetal design.   
•    You are self-sufficient, takes lead on own tasks and are also able to work/plan independently
•    Proficient in English language
•    Very good knowledge in CATIA V5, Creo is a plus.
•    Advanced structured part creation (Solid- and surface modeling).
•    Modeling with respect to tooling (draft analysis, tool set up).
•    Assembly analysis with respect to production assembly.
•    Component optimization (weight-, strength-, process selection – and cost optimization).
•    Fixation system part integration.
•    Part- and complete system drawing creation
•    Very good knowledge in KOLA, PDM link, Jira and Confluence

Your responsibilities will include: Working in concept design, from early phases and throughout product development including maintenance. Requirement specifications, collecting and breakdown of requirements. Working together with technology teams and system teams to define the system design to meet the requirements. Balancing of the technical solution and support for verification. Involving in the technical decisions towards projects and suppliers, making sure that we continuously improve quality.


Who are you?
We believe that to be successful in this position, you are a pragmatic team player that loves to develop system designs with the customer in focus. Since the area is in an early phase, it is important that you are flexible and enjoy working in a changing environment. You have a broad knowledge and experience of both Electrical and Mechanical development. Confident in leading system solution towards suppliers and product teams. Relevant Experience
* 5 years of experience from System design/architecture within automotive systems.
* Experience from development within Electrical Propulsion System. Experience of battery technologies/systems within the application of electric vehicles.
* Min. 4 years of experience from design within Energy Storage Systems. Good understanding of how Battery Packs building blocks and system attributes influence battery & vehicle system. 
* Experience in defining requirement and balancing requirement between stakeholders and technical solution.
* Master degree in Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar. 


Meritorious:
Competencies within Volvo process and tools, particularly DVP and methods
Experience working as a Component Owner or Engineering Project Manager
