Green Propulsion and Thermal Management are increasingly important areas for Volvo Cars to become leading in Electrification. Thermal Management have a key role in energy efficient propulsion by optimizing control towards customer functions and balancing attributes. The systems are getting more advanced and complex including different temperature levels, cooling down, heating up, transfer/transport and store heat for electric motors, battery, control modules etc. All this needs to be designed with sustainability in focus.

Thermal Management is a part of the department Thermal & Hybrid within the unit Propulsion & Energy. The department is divided into five groups, working closely together for a complete Thermal Management system delivery, both on HW and SW side. Our group, Thermal System & Function, have ownership of Thermal Management from first architectural sketch, on HW and functional side, including concept design, to system development and ownership within our running programs. We are 14 persons with high ambitions, different ages, background, and experience. We are characterized as an open and friendly group where everyone shares their knowledge with each other.

We are now happy to share a great opportunity to join or dynamic team as a Thermal Function System Designer. If you’re looking for a position in which you will be the key person for the total coordination of the electrical realization of Thermal Management functionality - you’ve found it! 

What you’ll do
In this role you will work in the early phase with Function Realization and System design in close cooperation with other technical areas, attributes, and aspects. An important internal interface is towards our Thermal SW group, responsible for controls, diagnostics, and calibration. Amongst your colleagues you will find Function Owner, System Architect, SW developer, CAE and Component owners. You will play an important role in shaping our development and implementation of our structures and processes.

Your responsibilities: 
* Lead the system design and implementation of Thermal Management functionality across departments.
* Break down functional behavior to requirements for SW implementation, both within our department and to other technical areas if needed. 
* Lead the system design work with allocation of both software components, actuators and sensors. 
* Participate in future development and improvement of our Thermal Management functionalities, documented in our Technical and Functional Roadmaps
* Participate in developing our Verification plan (AVN) on system- and complete vehicle level, regarding the function, both generic and per program.
* Participate in system safety work such as HARA, and lead needed developments for FTAs, TSCs or similar. 
* Participate in benchmark work within our functional area. 


What you’ll bring
We believe you have a BSc or MSc within mechatronics, electrical or electronics and have experience from functionality or software development best practices. 2-5 years working experience within relevant field. You are fluent in English, both written and spoken and have a driver’s license (B) 

In this role, collaboration is key, and you excel as a team player, driven by a genuine belief in the value of inclusivity. You have a great technical interest and curiosity, good analytic skills and approach tasks in a structured and supportive manner. Your energy is contagious, and you eagerly seek cross-functional solutions alongside colleagues and other teams. While detail-oriented, you also have a holistic perspective, able to visualize the broader picture.  

Meritorious: 
•    Experience from SW/ Function development and/or testing within automotive development 
•    Experience within control technology, theoretically and from practical applications, are considered as an advantage

Conduct system-level testing and validation to verify RF performance.

Background:
A minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience in electrical engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field and/or MSc or PhD
Experience with RF simulation and design tools such as CST Studio Suite, ANSYS HFSS, Keysight Genesys, or similar.
Hands-on experience with RF prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
Experience with RF programming languages such as Matlab, Python, C/C++, Labview, or similar.
Experience with PCB design for RF applications, including transmission line routing, impedance matching, and high-frequency grounding techniques.
Familiarity with RF safety guidelines and regulatory compliance standards for RF systems and devices.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to have:
Familiarity with RF system-level design and analysis, including link budget calculations and RF link analysis.
Relevant certifications in RF engineering or related areas

* Solid understanding of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and familiarity with automotive standards (AUTOSAR, ISO 26262).

* Proven track record of successfully architecting and delivering complex embedded software projects within time and budget constraints. Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and experience with microcontrollers and automotive electronic control units (ECUs).

As a person you have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Good English in writing and speech is a skill you must have, since the work will be done in an international environment.

About us
Safety has always been one of Volvo Cars strongest core values. At Safety and Durability Lab, we perform tests in all phases on component, system, and vehicle level, to support our vision when it comes to safety. We support R&D with development-, correlation-, verification- and certification tests.

What you will do
As a Department Program Manager (DPM), you will be responsible for deliverables from the Safety Lab. This entails owning the backlog and the prioritization, utilization rate and delivery performance. It also includes to balance and develop the lab capability and capacity with the Engineering Manager, as well as to be responsible for the interface with stakeholders and other involved areas. You will be the driver of the long-term execution plan and support the teams when needed in short-term priorities and discussions with stakeholders.

Together with the teams within Safety Lab and your colleagues in the management team, you will develop and implement future strategies and investments needs for the labs. You will also continue to develop prerequisites for effective collaboration with Stakeholders as ARTs, attributes, and other areas, both internal and external Volvo Cars.

You will be part of the management team in the Safety and Durability Lab. We want to offer you the possibility to grow as a leader and there is a great foundation of leadership experience to rest against in the management team.

You will collaborate closely with the Engineering Managers for Safety Lab & Technical Development to continue to grow an open, fun and trusting environment where we develop the teams to meet a fast-changing future. 

About you
We believe you have a Master’s degree in science or equivalent work experience. Experience from working in product development is meritorious for this position. Preferable, you have worked with Crash Safety and has good knowledge in testing rigs in this field.

You have a big interest in cars and technology. To be successful in balancing stakeholders needs to performed rig tests, good knowledge in testing rigs is vital. You are fluent in English and Swedish - both written and spoken. You have leadership experience as perhaps Engineering Manager, Product Owner, or Senior Engineer. You like to communicate and connect business sense with technology.
On a personal level, you have a genuine interest in both technology and leadership, and you don’t hesitate to challenge status quo. You are engaging and motivated with a genuine initiative and the ability to make things happen. You are an accessible leader who wants to support the Engineering Managers in the development of the technology capabilities and the teams, to assure we develop the right competence in line with long term technical strategies.

What we offer
Volvo Cars Torslanda is shifting production towards electrification and building a Battery Assembly plant. The Quality Department is now looking for a Quality Action Leader (QAL). This is a unique opportunity to be involved in influencing the construction of our new area of expertise and its quality organization from the ground up.

What you’ll do
You will be part of the project from the early phase where you are involved in developing the whole quality assurance process. During the pre-series, you will be a key person together with the Quality Department's QAS (Quality Analysis Support), when it comes to validation plans, control plans and standards, both in the factory and when it comes to the Pilot Plant construction in connection with the VP series.

As QAL, it is your role to initiate and implement measures to ensure the quality of our products and protect our customers. You will act as a convener in cross-functional forums to drive quality assurance in e.g., Task Force groups. You will perform analysis of complex quality issues and escalate to ME and R&D when necessary.

You and your skills
We see that you have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. You have documented knowledge and experience from problem solving in 8D, Six Sigma or equivalent. Six Sigma Black Belt is an advantage. 

You have the ability to work with large amounts of process parameters and perform correlation analyses that enable reduced process variation in assembly, automated processes and geometry. You have previous leadership experience and are fluent in English, both spoken and written. If you have good knowledge in Swedish, spoken and written, it’s an advantage. 

You as a person
To succeed in this role, you have the communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all functions within the existing organization. Furthermore, you have the ability to learn new things and work together with production, the Shop Engineering, Geometry and Engineering to achieve your customer's expectations.

You have a data focused background with experience implementing data governance principles, defining common taxonomies and processes for data across different business units. * You are familiar with sustainability framework such as the GHG protocol and CSRD.

Concept Centre – Let’s introduce ourselves.
Concept Centre is part of the department Prototype Build & Verification responsible for Engineering & Operations prototype build and the verification environment. Our purpose is to fulfill Volvo Cars need of inhouse-developed prototypes for product development. We develop, create, and iterate interior design prototypes in concept phase to early test series. 

We are now looking for an Upholstery Developer to join our team, you’ll be a part of a small, engaged team within Paint shop & Upholstery where you have the opportunity to be a part of shaping the future. 

What you’ll do
As an Upholstery Developer, your responsibilities include collaborating with internal stakeholders to define task prerequisites and expected outcomes. You’ll create, visualize, and produce automotive interior upholstery concepts, develop interior conceptual trims and dress for early development and verification, and utilize CAD software for detailed interior component design. Collaborating with engineers to optimize prototype designs, iterating prototypes during testing phases, and implementing changes based on feedback are essential parts of this role. 

Additionally, you’ll contribute expertise during design development, assemble and mount interior prototypes in conceptual environments, and continuously improve efficiency, lead time, and cost using new technology and materials. Operating cutting machines, sewing machines, and SIPS machines will be part of your daily tasks.

What you’ll bring
We see that you have an education within Design Technology, Automotive Engineering, or related field, preferably a bachelor’s degree. If you have certification or training in automotive design and upholstery technology, it’s advantageous. You have professional experience as an upholstery technician and are comfortable with determining the right sewing techniques required for the work. As the job involves managing you own projects together with internal costumers you’ll need to have basic skills in project management with sufficient tools. 

Other than that, you’ll need to be proficient in CAD software (e.g. Lectra, Gerber) for automotive interior design and have in-depth knowledge of automotive textiles, materials, and upholstery techniques. You’ll need to understand vehicle interior ergonomics and safety regulations as well as have a strong attention to detail and aesthetic sense. Since we collaborate cross-functional you’ll need to have good knowledge in English and Swedish written and spoken.
