About the job
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our data product team. At Avinode, we are still relatively early in our data journey. Over the past two years, the team has built a modern data platform with Databricks at the core, and now we are starting to reap the benefits of these efforts, supporting various parts of the company with their data needs. With the initial platform in place, we are ready to scale it up and shape data product offerings for internal customers in the organisation and eventually external customers as well.
As a Data Engineer, you will contribute to the technical foundations of the data platform. This role is similar to a software engineering position, focusing on developing and expanding the platform's capabilities and what data it can handle. The team you will be joining is comprised of people from 4 different countries, has a good gender balance, and takes inclusiveness and psychological safety very seriously.
What you will do
- Working with with your teammates, design appropriate technical solutions to implement new functionality and improve existing functionality in the data platform.
- Build additional integrations with our data platform.
- Troubleshoot issues with data pipelines.
- Assist product teams with data modelling.
- Produce high-quality, maintainable code, following the team’s standard coding practices and conventions.
- Use the team’s standard tools for source control, bug tracking, test automation, technical documentation, and so on.
Who you are
-You have 4+ years of experience in a data engineering or data-adjacent software engineering role in a cloud environment. We use Azure, but experience working in AWS or GCP is just fine.
- You are proficient with Python.
- You have expert-level proficiency with .
- You know your way around agile and lean/continuous software development. We tend to follow Kanban, but aren’t religious about it.
- You are an independent self-starter who isn’t afraid to ask questions.
- You communicate well. With offices in multiple time zones and multiple countries, this position requires strong written and verbal communication skills.
What do we offer you?
This role is a chance to drive change across the business aviation industry. That change won’t happen by accident. Business aviation generates mountains of data, but much of it remains underused. At Avinode, we’re working to change that. By turning raw data into actionable insights our customers can rely on to grow and optimize their operations. This role will help the industry turn its data into real impact.
We are passionate about our work and proud of our high engagement, creativity, and curious culture. But don't worry, we like to laugh and have fun.
We are a fully remote company. You decide where and how you work. We want you to love what you do, but we know we all need to live, so we provide a competitive salary and a set of benefits.
Want to join our crew?
Sounds like a great fit for you? You’ll find more fun facts about our Noders (that’s what we call ourselves) and our culture on our website.
