Interested in preparing and leading the execution of product and process trials for deployment projects at Swedish Match manufacturing site in Gothenburg? This is a high-impact role for someone with interpersonal skills who enjoys leading cross-functional teams.

As Swedish Match continues to develop new products and processes, we are looking for a detail-oriented and results-driven Industrialization Project Manager, or as we call it; Product Service Engineer, to lead the industrialization of product and processes for deployment projects at our manufacturing site in Gothenburg.

You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing factory trials for new products, packaging, and process improvements to ensure manufacturing readiness and a smooth industrialization of new or changed products. The role bridges the gap between product- and engineering development, factory operations, and quality. You’ll work closely with R&D, production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure trials are effectively delivered and seamlessly transitioned into routine manufacturing.

You will report to the Manager of Process Development and be based at our Gothenburg site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end management of factory industrialization, from planning, trials and documentation to execution and reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, technical services and quality) to define and meet trial objectives (e.g. machine ability, quality, waste)
• Be part of technical projects where new/changed products are involved
• Perform risk assessment and impact validation
• Prepare and secure approval for trial setups
• Manage trial timelines, resource allocation, and stakeholder communications taking into account production schedules, material availability, and workforce capacity.
• Ensure industrialization activities comply with health, safety, and quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks and analysing performance data to identify areas for improvement during trials.
• Analyse results and recommend next steps based on findings.
• Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for external project managers.

Your profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience in new product development, production or process development within manufacturing
• Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate across departments.
• Understanding of production processes and lean manufacturing principles
• Hands-on experience conducting or managing factory trials is preferred.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
• Fluent in Swedish and English (written and spoken)

University degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related engineering field.
Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in automation, mechatronics or similar engineering roles
Proven experience designing, implementing and commissioning automation systems in real-world environments
Strong PLC programming skills (Siemens TIA Portal preferred) and hands-on control system knowledge
Experience integrating sensors, actuators and mechatronic components into cohesive systems
Proficiency in Python for automation, data communication, or system integration
Familiarity with CAD and simulation tools to support mechanical and system design
Ability to troubleshoot complex systems, optimize performance, and ensure reliable operation in production
A proactive problem-solving mentality with the ability to work independently and drive projects forward
Fluency in english with professional proficiency in Swedish.

You work on the development of our core systems and applications, in close collaboration with our automation engineers and AI specialists. Your work spans backend, frontend, algorithms, AI models and integrations with our automation platform. You contribute to both new development and support while taking an active part in the ongoing evolution of our products.What we’re looking for We are looking for several developers and believe in the combination of different competences and experience, specialists and generalists alike. You bring some of the following experience to the team:
A university degree, BSc or MSc, in computer science, software engineering, mechatronics or a related technical field.
Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in software engineering within a relevant industry.
Proven experience with designing, developing and maintaining backend and/or frontend applications using C#, Python, C++ and Typescript.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines in GitHub and are comfortable with application containerization.
Experience in digital twins solutions and IoT frameworks.
Proficiency developing REST APIs, database structures and integrations between systems.
Experience with 3D engines, building visualization applications.
Familiarity with working on algorithms and AI modules for motion planning, object recognition and classification.
Experience building, training and integrating AI models such as SAM and SAM2 for vision and automation use cases.
You have developed annotation tools along with training and classification strategies for neural networks.
Fluency in Swedish, both in speech and written text.

About the Role

As a Diagnostics Design/Verification Engineer you will play a key role in shaping system reliability, safety, and serviceability throughout the product lifecycle. In this role, you will collaborate closely with system architects, embedded engineers, and product owners to design, implement, and verify state?of?the?art diagnostic solutions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system architectures to identify failure modes and diagnostic needs.
• Define diagnostic concepts, monitoring strategies, and mitigation mechanisms.
• Develop detailed system and software diagnostic requirements in accordance with ASPICE (SYS/SWE).
• Structure, configure, and maintain DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and UDS services.
• Ensure compliance with key automotive standards: ISO 14229, SAE J2012, SAE 1979.
• Design, implement, and execute diagnostic test cases for embedded systems.
• Specify datapoints for backend analytics, predictive maintenance, and fleet insights.
• Maintain diagnostic databases for manufacturing and aftermarket stakeholders.
• Monitor and support the execution of the organization’s test strategy.
• Perform hands?on vehicle and rig testing, including fault injection.
• Conduct system?level verification to ensure diagnostic performance meets requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Experience working as a System Design Engineer, collaborating closely with electrical engineers, product owners, and cross?functional teams.
• Deep understanding of embedded systems and their lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience with embedded software and hardware design.
• Strong knowledge of automotive communication protocols: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, XCP.
• Experience with HIL (Hardware?in?the?Loop) testing environments.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze code.
• Practical experience with vehicle and test?rig diagnostics and measurement.
• Proficiency with tools such as Python, Excel, Wireshark, DLT Viewer.
• Familiarity with Linux/WSL environments.
• Valid Swedish B?category driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with AUTOSAR and POSIX-based environments.
• Knowledge of aftermarket onboard diagnostics and service?oriented tooling.
• Understanding of emission?related monitor design and OBD legislation.
• Background in system architecture development and/or project management.

Main responsibilities

As a Product & Process Improvement Engineer you will improve product and process performance by identifying areas for optimization and applying a rigorous scientific approach. You will be the link between development, production, and customer needs, filling the gap of understanding on material, process, product and formulations. By analysing manufacturing data, performing root cause analysis, evaluating process parameters impact on product attributes and implementing corrective actions you will help streamline operations, reduce waste, and maximize productivity, balancing speed to delivery and scientific accuracy.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Address characterization gaps for chemical and physical characteristics of semi-finished products, pouches, and finished goods to improve specifications and technical sheets.
• Identify root causes of priority consumer complaints and develop mitigation plans to align product performance with quality and expectations.
• Analyse manufacturing losses and implement corrective actions to improve product quality and efficiency.
• Adapt product designs to support company strategy and market growth; enhance technical sheets for second-source qualification amid regulatory changes.
• Assess ingredient aging, storage, and variability effects on quality, providing specification feedback.
• Drive continuous improvement aligned with consumer needs, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing goals.
• Prepare for material replacements in line with product roadmap and sustainability targets.
• Apply scientific methods in test design and data analysis for actionable insights ensuring knowledge building and retention through scientific reports.

This position belongs to Innovation & Product Development and is based in Gothenburg. You will report to Manager Technical Product & Change Management. Please note that relocation support is not available for this position.



Your profile

We are looking for someone with

• University degree in Chemical, Material, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 3-5 years’ experience in product development, manufacturing, or quality, preferably in a multinational setting.
• Strong analytical skills, including root cause analysis and data interpretation
• Knowledge of product design, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Experience with data analysis and statistical methods
• Good project management skills (e.g., Agile or Waterfall)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
• Fluency in English and good knowledge of Swedish

This role combines your technical skills, scientific approach, action orientation with project coordinating skills while organising trials, and you will collaborate with many other functions in the organization.
